Slurry Ice Systems

The Slurry Ice System is a compact, customizable solution that produces both fluid and flake ice with adjustable thickness and temperature (0°C to -15°C), offering a salt-free option ideal for delicate or salinity-sensitive products in modern food processing.

Overview

The Slurry Ice System is a flexible, multi-purpose ice solution that can produce both fluid ice and flake ice. It can be delivered with or without an external ice machine, allowing for customizable configurations based on the user’s needs. The system is adjustable, delivering fluid ice mixtures with up to 50% thickness, and temperature control ranges from 0°C/32°f to -15°C/23.6°F. Additionally, it can produce fresh water ice without salinity, making it ideal for products with low tolerance to salt

The KAPP Skaginn Slurry Ice System is a complete ice solution and probably the most flexible fluid ice system available today. The system can set up to accept an external source of ice and can be delivered with or without the flake ice machine unit. When delivered with the flake ice machine it is more than a fluid ice system and can produce pure flake ice, simultaneously while producing fluid ice.

ROI and Sustainability

The system uses a fraction of the energy required by defrosting chambers using heat and steam or microwaves and radio frequency systems. RoteX Thawing® also offers substantial water savings compared to conventional systems. Tub thawing systems use about 5 liters of water for every kg of fish, while the RoteX Thawing® system uses only 0.5 liters for every kg of fish.

Optional Additions

FiltreX

The Filtrex filtering system is an ideal addition to RoteX Thawing®  and is described by our customers as breakthrough equipment in terms of water savings. The Skaginn 3X FiltreX system makes it possible to re-use the same water while staying within recommended hygiene standards. The water usage and recycling costs are reduced significantly.

Slurry Ice System

Immediately after thawing the product should be chilled down and temperature-stabilized. This provides the best possible quality (in terms of color, shelf life, texture, yield, etc.). The Skaginn 3X Fluid Ice system is ideal for quickly chilling product after thawing and research has shown that chilling by slurry ice is superior to conventional chilling with flake ice in a number of ways.

Why Choose this Product

The Slurry Ice System provides an efficient and adaptable solution for rapid chilling, extending shelf life, and preserving product freshness. It can be tailored to deliver slurry ice or flake ice depending on requirements, while also offering flexible temperature and ice density controls. The compact design makes it space-efficient, and the system’s ability to produce fresh water ice provides an additional advantage for sensitive products

Key Advantages

  • Multi-Purpose: Can deliver both slurry ice and flake ice separately, or together.
  • Flexible Controls: Adjusts slurry ice density up to 50%, with temperature control from 0°C/32°f to -15°C/23.6°F.
  • Fresh Water Ice: Capable of producing fresh water slurry ice without salinity, ideal for products sensitive to salt.
  • Compact Design: Requires minimal floor space, making it a space-efficient solution.
  • Modular Capacity: Easily scalable by adding ice machines, with up to 200 tons of 10% slurry ice per 24 hours.
  • External Ice Source Option: Can operate without an ice machine if an external ice source is available.

The challenge it solves

The slurry Ice System addresses the need for efficient, customizable cooling solutions in the food processing industry. By providing precise control over ice density and temperature, it ensures the rapid chilling of products, extends shelf life, and improves product quality. It also offers a solution for chilling products that are sensitive to salinity, without compromising on cooling performance.

Unique features

Unlike traditional ice systems, the Fluid Ice System is highly versatile, offering the ability to produce both slurry and flake ice, adjust ice thickness, and control temperatures across a wide range. Its unique ability to produce fresh water ice with no salinity ensures that it meets the specific needs of products requiring precise chilling conditions. The system’s scalability, modular design, and compact size make it a superior, flexible solution for modern fish processing plants.
