Slurry Ice Systems
Overview
The Slurry Ice System is a flexible, multi-purpose ice solution that can produce both fluid ice and flake ice. It can be delivered with or without an external ice machine, allowing for customizable configurations based on the user’s needs. The system is adjustable, delivering fluid ice mixtures with up to 50% thickness, and temperature control ranges from 0°C/32°f to -15°C/23.6°F. Additionally, it can produce fresh water ice without salinity, making it ideal for products with low tolerance to salt
The KAPP Skaginn Slurry Ice System is a complete ice solution and probably the most flexible fluid ice system available today. The system can set up to accept an external source of ice and can be delivered with or without the flake ice machine unit. When delivered with the flake ice machine it is more than a fluid ice system and can produce pure flake ice, simultaneously while producing fluid ice.
ROI and Sustainability
The system uses a fraction of the energy required by defrosting chambers using heat and steam or microwaves and radio frequency systems. RoteX Thawing® also offers substantial water savings compared to conventional systems. Tub thawing systems use about 5 liters of water for every kg of fish, while the RoteX Thawing® system uses only 0.5 liters for every kg of fish.
Optional Additions
FiltreX
The Filtrex filtering system is an ideal addition to RoteX Thawing® and is described by our customers as breakthrough equipment in terms of water savings. The Skaginn 3X FiltreX system makes it possible to re-use the same water while staying within recommended hygiene standards. The water usage and recycling costs are reduced significantly.
Slurry Ice System
Immediately after thawing the product should be chilled down and temperature-stabilized. This provides the best possible quality (in terms of color, shelf life, texture, yield, etc.). The Skaginn 3X Fluid Ice system is ideal for quickly chilling product after thawing and research has shown that chilling by slurry ice is superior to conventional chilling with flake ice in a number of ways.
