SplitX
Efficient, Gentle, and Consistent Frozen Block Disintegration
Overview
The KAPP SplitX gently disintegrates frozen fish blocks into individual or loosely connected pieces before thawing. By gently splitting tempered blocks (from –18 °C to –6 °C to –10 °C), the SplitX increases surface area, accelerates uniform thawing, and preserves product quality.
The result: higher yield, shorter processing time, and reduced water and energy consumption across the thawing operation.
Why Choose this Product
The SplitX is designed to improve both efficiency and product quality in thawing operations. Gently separating tempered blocks helps achieve up to 3% higher yield during thawing and further processing, while ensuring fillets are not broken, bent, or damaged. The increased surface area allows for significantly shorter thawing times, in some cases, reducing them by half. At the same time, the process lowers overall resource consumption by reducing the need for warm water, energy, and manual handling. By improving flow and consistency throughout the thawing operation and handling standard block sizes from 7.5 to 50 kg, the SplitX provides a reliable, practical solution for modern fish processing environments.
Industries Served

Key Advantages
- Throughput up to 6 tons/hour
- Manual or automatic infeed options
- Compact, industrial-grade design
- Reduces bottlenecks before RoteX Thawing® or other thawing systems
- Enhances product quality and improves batch consistency
- Proven Nordic engineering, built for 24/7 industrial environments
The challenge it solves
Frozen fish blocks thaw slowly and unevenly. Solid blocks limit water circulation, require excessive warm water, and risk product damage.
The SplitX solves this by gently cracking the block, creating multiple access points for water and heat, leading to:
- Faster, more uniform thawing
- Reduced bacterial risk
- Better texture and appearance
- Higher overall yield
Unique features
- Gentle mechanical cracking preserves fillet integrity
- Safety interlocked infeed/outfeed doors
- PLC control panel with emergency stop and reset indicators
- Food-grade construction for hygiene and durability
- Easy-to-remove upper and lower press plates for cleaning
- Designed for minimal maintenance with accessible lubrication points
