KAPP ehf. has entered into an agreement with Laxey for the design and development of an integrated control and information system that will combine water quality monitoring with the control of other critical equipment, while providing a comprehensive overview of operations. The objective is to create a robust and user-friendly platform that supports safe, efficient, and data-driven operations.

Ólafur Karl Sigurðarson, Hallgrímur Steinsson, Valþór Hermannsson, Lárus Ásgeirsson and Daði Pálsson at the signing of the agreement in Barcelona today.

Laxey has built a forward-looking land-based aquaculture operation with a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and responsible growth. The agreement with KAPP marks an important step in further strengthening the integration of monitoring, control, and operational visibility across the facility.

KAPP specializes in services and solutions for fish and poultry processing, aquaculture, and food retail. In recent years, the company has continued to strengthen its support for aquaculture businesses through both software and hardware solutions, reflecting the evolving needs of the industry.

Ólafur Karl Sigurðarson, CEO of KAPP, says the agreement reflects the increasing importance of advanced automation and integrated system solutions within aquaculture.

“We are committed to delivering outstanding service to the aquaculture sector, just as we are to every industry we serve. Our collaboration with Laxey is an important milestone in that journey and aligns strongly with KAPP’s expertise in automation, control systems, and the development of solutions for technically demanding operations,” says Ólafur Karl Sigurðarson.

Hallgrímur Steinsson, Operations Manager at Laxey, says the partnership brings valuable expertise to an important part of the company’s infrastructure.

“We are pleased to be working with KAPP, a company with extensive experience in aquaculture and industrial control systems. The facility’s control system is a critical component in maximizing productivity and quality, and it is important for us to work with strong and trusted partners in that development,” says Hallgrímur Steinsson.

The agreement reflects the growing role of integrated control and information systems in land-based aquaculture, where real-time data, automation, and clear operational oversight are increasingly essential to long-term performance and success.

KAPP to Exhibit at Seafood Processing Global 2026 in Barcelona

KAPP will exhibit at Seafood Processing Global 2026, taking place 21–23 April 2026 at Fira Barcelona Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain. Seafood Processing Global is held alongside Seafood Expo Global, and the 2026 edition has been announced as the largest in the event’s history.

At the event, KAPP will present its broad portfolio of chilling, freezing, and processing solutions for the seafood industry. KAPP’s positioning centers on “Chilling, Freezing and Processing” and on helping customers maximize product quality, increase yield, and improve overall efficiency through advanced refrigeration and food processing solutions.

Visitors to the KAPP booth will learn more about a range of technologies for onboard and onshore seafood operations, as well as for aquaculture applications. These include OptimICE® liquid slurry ice systems, IQF Tunnel Freezers, Non-Pressure Plate Freezers, RoteX solutions, tub handling systems, ValuePump®, and other food processing technologies in the KAPP portfolio.

OptimICE® is designed to rapidly cool fish and maintain a stable, low temperature throughout the cold chain, helping preserve freshness and quality. KAPP’s freezing and processing portfolio also includes systems developed to improve yield, support gentle product handling, and enhance operational efficiency across seafood processing environments.

Seafood Processing Global brings together equipment, packaging, and service suppliers from across the international seafood sector, while the broader event attracts seafood professionals from around the world. For KAPP, the show is an important opportunity to meet customers, partners, and industry professionals in one place and discuss practical solutions for today’s processing challenges.

We look forward to meeting visitors at Booth 3BB401-E in Barcelona and discussing how KAPP can support stronger product quality, better yield, and more efficient operations across the cold chain.
